One Day in Johor Bahru
Dear and I woke up early on Saturday, 24 Nov 2007, and we drove to Woodland Circle which was next to the Causeway. We parked the car there and waited for Sebastian and Daphne (Daphne is dear's colleague). They frequent JB as Daphne's dad is staying there. Hence, we wanted them to come to sort of like bring us around. They were late due to some reasons but in the end we managed to cross the Causeway to reach the other side. When we got there, we first took a cab to Daphne's dad's place for them to put down their belongings as they would be spending the night there. Then, we strolled to an eating house nearby to eat Wanton Mee. The food there was quite good and tasted quite unique. After our satisfying breakfast, we walked to the nearby shopping centre to take a look. There was nothing much there as it was still quite early. We only bought some chewing gums and admired the children there who were participating in a drawing contest.
Following that, we took a taxi to Jusco. The shopping mall was huge but it was just like another Jurong Point or Vivo City to me. We only managed to get a few stuffs at Harris for Christmas presents. Among the items were a map, which I need to use as I am already visiting customers in Johor, some books and the DVD of "Secret", which was about half price of the one sold in Singapore. We also bought those packets of coconut to eat and drink.
Just when we felt quite full after enjoying the coconuts, we decided to have lunch at a Bak Kut Teh stall. We endured an excruciating jam to arrive there! The Bak Kut itself was only average but the soup and the livers were delicious. Other than the warm weather and the pespiration, I had nothing to complain about. After the meal, we conveniently walked to a massage palour nearby to enjoy an one hour long foot massage. The massuese were from China and I would say that their skills were not bad at all.
After that, we headed to Holiday Plaza where dear bought lots of local delights to bring home. Down there was like a fusion of our Sim Lim Square and Far East Plaza. We managed to buy a few Christmas presents there but they were still insufficient to make up half of the list. Then came eating time again! We went to a Chomp Chomp look-alike place and we tried foods like Penang Laksa, which I did not like, Stingray, Sambal Sotong etc.
Before we burst our stomaches with oily food, we managed to set off to our final destination of the day. We went to City Square and it was there where we almost finished up buying the Christmas gifts. The reason was because there was a Factory Outlet Store! I swear I will be going back there to get myself Chinese New Year clothes. Haha!
